Bavarian Mountain Hound History. From my early years of Game-Hunting, from when I was the boy that carried the gamebag, until I was successfully shooting game myself. It was made clear to me from my two mentors (an uncle and his friend) that a man was at nothing going out hunting and shooting game without a good dog. Be it a Pointer or Setter for pheasants or a Labrador, Cocker or Springer for Ducks. So why should Deer Stalking be any different.
I had researched many different breeds of tracking dogs from Wire haired German Pointers, to Teckels to Beagles and Labrador crosses but my research kept bringing me back to the Bavarian Mountain Hound. From what I had read from numerous sources and John Jeanneney’s book “Tracking Dogs for finding wounded Deer” I decided the answer for me was a Bavarian Mountain Hound.
I discovered a litter of Bavarians from the famous Vatrová FCI tracking kennel in Slovakia. The dam of the pups was a fantastic tracking bitch from this world famous line of tracking dogs like, Citra Vatrova (pic)
The sire of these pups Tizian Vom Haus Kamp is from Germany and is sired by a Netherlands and Luxemburg Champion Dracula Vom Haus Kamp. We purchased 2 dog pups from the litter. These dogs have been everything we have ever dreamed of.
My dog has been a top class tracker never failing to find a wounded deer. He has had some spectacular finds, he has found deer for friends of my 12 and 24 hours later.
I spent many nights researching and studying pedigrees from good working lines in Poland, Germany and England, and I bought a nice young bitch “Ruby” from Polish and Belgian bloodlines. She has a lovely kind temperament and had 6 good finds for me last year.
So I decided to breed her with Baxter as her first litter are showing great promise and good temperament . See puppies for sale
